Landmark @ Woodward
January 20, 2016
The girls basketball team traveled all the way to Quincy yesterday to play against Woodward School. Even after the long trip we managed to pull of a win with a final score of 30-16!
Rachel Esham lead the scoring charge with 10 points and Taylor Bagdon and Madison Coddington were close behind with 6 points each. Skylur Demers contributed 4 and Julia O’Neill had 3.
Baylah Corbitt came off the bench a strong force bringing an intensity that forced many turnovers and jump balls.
Katie Sullivan, Julia Ventura, and Cristina Monarrez made the most of their minutes, hustling up and down the court and helping Landmark to hold on to their lead.
Thanks to Clara O’Connor for keeping the book and to all the fans that made the trip to support the team!

Landmark @ Brimmer and May
January 08, 2016
The Landmark girls basketball team played their best game of the season in a 43-25 win over Brimmer and May. After previously only beating Brimmer by 7, the team pulled together to make sure it wasn’t that close again.
Seven out of the eight girls that played contributed points. Rachel Esham led the charge with 15 points from inside the paint. Cristina Nelson put up 12 points of her own, sinking two three’s. Julia O’Neil had 6 hard earned points in the paint as well.
Madison Coddington ran the offense very well, ensuring many opportunities for all of her teammates to score.
Cristina Nelson with help from Baylah Corbitt, guarded one of the league's top scorers holding her to only 2 first half points and 9 second half points.
Taylor Bagdon was a serious playmaker weaving passes through the defense to set her teammates in the paint up to score.
Skylur Demers brought her ferocity to the court both offensively and defensively.
Julia Ventura brought focus to her defense keeping the other team on their toes.

Landmark @ Waring
January 06, 2016
The girls varsity basketball team fought hard in their win against Waring yesterday pulling away with the W late in the second half with a final score of 27-16.
Cristina Nelson was the leading scorer for the team with 13 points. Her combination of jump shots and quick lay-ups off the transition made her a serious offensive threat.
Baylah Corbitt had her best game of the season so far. She brought a high level of intensity on defense and hit two crucial jumpers at the end of the first half to help Landmark end the half with the lead.
Skylur Demers was a defensive force causing numerous turnovers and keeping her teams’ intensity high.
Madison Coddington ran a tight offense, as always, and helped to keep the team calm under pressure.
Taylor Bagdon made several heads up plays at the end of the game to help Landmark maintain their lead.
Julia O’Neil added to the offensive stats and brought her solid sense for the game by creating many opportunities for herself and for her teammates.
Rachel Esham played hard coming off of a sickness bringing the heat against a much larger Waring center.
Cristina Monarrez, Katie Sullivan and Julia Ventura all played solid minutes in the game, stepping up where we needed them to.

Landmark vs Waring
December 15, 2015
The girls varsity basketball team beat Waring with a final score of 48-11.
Rachel Esham lead the offensive charge with 21 points and Cristina Nelson had a breakthrough game with 12 points. Katie Sullivan, Julia O’Neill, Madison Coddington, Taylor Bagdon and Skylur Demers also added buckets of their own for the Vikings.
Baylah Corbitt, Julia Ventura and Cristina Monarrez all saw solid minutes and showed great intensity and improvement since the beginning of the season.

Landmark vs Covenant Christian Academy
December 11, 2015
The girls varsity basketball team lost in a nail-biter of a game on Friday against Covenant Christian Academy, with a final score of 52-50.
Coming out in a strong press that forced many turnovers, the girls pulled out ahead-leading at the half 29-21. After getting into some foul trouble, Landmark had to switch up their approach and CCA took advantage of the situation making a run for the lead. With under a minute left and Landmark up by two, CCA hit a three to take the lead and while getting the final shot off, Landmark was unable to regain the lead for the W.
Seven girls contributed to the score- Racheld Esham lead the charge with 21 points and Skylur Demers contributed a solid 9 points. Taylor Bagdon and Madison Codington each contributed 6 with Katie Sullivan, Julia O’Neil and Baylah Corbit each adding to the scoreboard as well.
Even with a tough loss the ladies played their hardest from start to finish maintaining an impressive level of intensity and putting on a good show for the crowd.

Landmark @ Gann Academy

The Landmark girls basketball team fought hard today against Gann with a final score that wasn’t reflective of the effort and intensity shown by the team (40-59). After a difficult first half, the girls came out fired-up, scoring 10 quick points in the first 3 minutes of the second half. They went on to win the second half by a score of 27-26, doubling their point output from the first half!
Senior captain Rachel Esham scored a career high 22 points: in addition to being the team’s top scorer, she was fearless on defense outmatching Gann’s intensity.

Landmark vs Brimmer and May
December 04, 2015
The Landmark girls varsity basketball team started off their season on Friday with a big win over Brimmer and May, 23-30!
Down 14-2 in the first half, Landmark fought back to tie up the score by halftime with a basket from freshman, Skylur Demers (12 points total)!
Senior captain Rachel Esham lead the team in scoring with 14 points and several solid blocks.
The team came out strong in the second half holding Brimmer from scoring for the first seven minutes! Junior Cristina Nelson, hustled all game, playing tough defense on one of the league’s top scorers (holding her to only five second half points!). Freshman Baylah Corbitt provided a break for Cristina by stepping up to the challenge as well.
Katie Sullivan, Julia O’Neill and Taylor Bagdon all brought energy and intensity to the court to help the team to secure the win.
Junior captain Madison Coddington ran a solid offense and set the pace for the team to take over the game and hold on to the lead.
Cristina Monarrez and Julia Ventura both played crucial roles in preparing the team for today’s victory.
